Homearama Home Tour - Day 2

Hello friends!

Today we're continuing our Homearama Virtual Tour with House #2 - The Olde English.  (To see House #1 on the tour, click here).  I admit, this one wasn't my favorite, but there were some elements that I did like.  Judge for yourself!

Here is the exterior - all of these homes had the "garage effect" in that the garages were definitely a prominent feature of the homes - I guess a necessary evil when you're talking about smaller lot sizes, but I'm not a fan.

When you walked in, the home was bright with lots of natural light and beautiful hardwood floors.
The kitchen was open to the family room - wood cabinets and striking granite countertops.
Master Bedroom:
Master Bathroom - loved the tub, and the tile really caught my eye.
Kind of a cross-hatch effect - the pictures really don't do it justice.
I like how they added an interesting detail around the mirror with the glass tile.
A closer view...
 I thought this was a neat feature - a walk-in/walk-through closet.
And on the other side, you find your laundry room!  Smart - but definitely something that is probably better suited to an empty nester.  I imagine my kids using that door as a back door to hide from each other.
A cute little mud room space - love the use of glass door knobs to hang coats or backpacks.
This was one of the extra bathrooms that was attached to a bedroom.  I really liked this space, especially the tile that looks like wood at first glance.  We asked what it was and the girl who was the "house greeter" told us it was wood.  Um, I don't think so - that's definitely grout around those tiles (I checked).
And then there's the basement.  While this one was light filled, it kind of fell flat with me.  It didn't feel like anything extra-special, like you're accustomed to seeing in a show home.  No media room, not a whole lot of ... flair.  Kind of basic.
But, it did have a bar.  Not quite as flashy or interesting as some of the others, but it still scores some points with me.
Overall, there were some nice features to this home, but it didn't feel as custom as some of the others on the tour.  What do you think?

  1. It's always fun to tour new spaces. I think the tile in this home is well done and looks professional.

  2. I'm with you; I like the first one better, but of course I can appreciate a brand new home and that nice neutral color palette is like a blank canvas just waiting for some personalization.

  3. Not really my style either, but it's always fun to look! We used to have Home-A-Rama here, but I think they stopped doing it. So thanks for taking us on your tour :)

  5. I would have to agree. Of course it's nice, but doesn't stand out as extra special. Whomever buys it needs to amp it up with moldings and beautiful furnishings.

  6. You know, I really have always been a fan of cross hatching style patterns when it comes to flooring, tiling, and even blankets and clothing. The first bathroom looks extremely cultural and cozy, though the white one screams of fancyness

  7. I love looking at houses so very much! It took a lot of years for my husband to understand my loving to look without it meaning I wanted to move!
