A Sneak Peek - Painting the Kitchen Cabinets

I have been a busy bee, all week, working on the kitchen cabinets.  I go to work, come home and have been painting them in the evenings, since I need to wait 16 hours between coats.  I feel like the Dunkin Donuts guy - "Time to make the donuts..."  Remember him?

But, I brought up one of the doors and put a knob on it (from a cabinet in my laundry room), just to get an idea of what it's going to look like.

I'm loving it.  I placed them in this little nook area that I painted awhile back in this dreamy Mountain Laurel (Benjamin Moore) color, which will also be carried into the kitchen.

I still have a lot of work ahead of me, but at least the cabinet doors can sit and "cure" while I tackle the cabinet frames this weekend!  It's coming together people...

If you need me, I'll be making the donuts...

  12. Hello!! I have been researching painting dark oak cabinets for about a year!! You have given me the inpiration to start this huge project!! I am going to do a trial run on my laundry room cabinets first!! I have purchased the paint sprayer and now am wondering what kind of primer and paint you are using?? Also, did you sand everything before and during this process?? Thanks so much!!

  13. I am very interested in Shell's questions too. We just bought a house with all oak trim & cabinets. I love white, but don't know if I'm up to the challenge. My husband thinks it would look bad, but yours looks perfect! We are going to have 2 months before we have to be out of our apartment, so I want to decide soon, because this would be the perfect opportunity if I decide to go for it!
