I know it's been a LONG time coming, but this project took on a life of its own! I thought I had made good progress in taking the wallpaper down, but I underestimated the power of the paste. Oh. my. goodness. I started painting, and discovered all sorts of little pieces of paste that I missed, and it made for a big, stinking, mess.
More on that later. For now, let's revel in the after, shall we? The color is "Bird's Egg" by Benjamin Moore.
I had been looking and looking for a stencil, and stumbled upon this one in a crazy way. I was Googling rooms that were painted in Benjamin Moore's Palladium Blue (a color we're considering for our family room), and lo and behold, I found this ala the decorologist. Totally by accident - gotta love that.
I haven't finished the mirror area, which is why I'm not showing it yet. I went to Hobby Lobby in search of a mirror at 50% off, but alas, found nothing. So, I decided to rework the mirror that was in there already. (It's just not ready yet). ;-)

That looks so great!! I may be linking back to give you credit for the stencil! I am about to paint my powder room blue too- and if I get really motivated a stencil would be pretty fun...:) oh and I found a great new powder room mirror at Lowes- random but they have a huge selection!
ReplyDeleteI love what you did here. The design is lovely. Don't you think that with wallpaper coming back and people's nightmare memories of stripping wallpaper--that stenciling is the way to go? Especially if it could look as pretty as yours...and so great in a room with moisture. Fab job!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat color, Jenny! I'm adding that one to my list of favorites! What a difference from the previous wallpaper. I can sympathize - I did our powder room a couple of years ago and it was the only room that had any kind of wallpaper left up. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be taking it down, but that may have been because I was so determined to redo this bathroom!

Wow, the "before" room is kind of scary! Love the stenciled wall and the beautiful blue wall colour in the "after" room :-) I think it looks great with just the one stenciled wall, but why not live with it for a bit and then decide if you want to stencil the other walls too.

ReplyDeleteThat before wallpaper.....wow! Please tell me you did not put that up so I don't have to feel bad about saying that. I love the shade of paint you used. I'm going to be redoing my bathroom sometime this year (hopefully soon!) and have considering doing an all over stencil. However, I've been afraid to mess that up. Yours is very nice though.
