Hello all!
Sorry this is a day late, but I think it will be worth it! Yesterday was a cold and dreary day, and I was just not loving the light for my photos. Is it too much to ask for a sliver of sunlight? Plus, my son has the flu, so I was a bit scattered anyway!
But things are looking brighter in my daughter Kate's, bedroom! I have to admit, since we've moved, I haven't done a whole lot to the kids' rooms, aside from painting them. But one thing that has been bugging me for awhile now, is that my daughter's bed just looks... unfinished. She has adorable bedding (PB Outlet), but I haven't found a headboard that I really like.
But along came this beautiful inspiration (thank you, Emily A. Clark). Ever since I laid eyes on it - I have had this paneled wall image in the back of my mind...
First things first. I needed to rearrange her bedroom. There aren't a whole lot of options, and the original setup just wasn't really working.
So, here are some pictures of her room before we got to work. I should say that part of what triggered this paneled headboard was that Kate wanted to "organize her room". Who am I to stand in the way of progress? (And yes, it's dark. What can I say? Women in this house get motivated in the nighttime hours. Perhaps it has something to do with me painting our master bedroom the day before I went into labor with her...).
This is the view from her bedroom door (prior to clearing anything out). You can see that some items have made their way up from the basement:
Again, a view from her bedroom door, slightly to the right. Lots of doors to deal with in this space.
A shot from the doorway of the Jack & Jill bathroom. More doors.
Like I said, this setup just wasn't working. Plus, she has one additional nightstand that shouldn't even be in her room. Too much stuff!
So, from here, I rearranged the furniture.
I'm liking the flow of the room more already. I am thinking that a smaller dresser may be in order, but that's for another time. I'm also adding "paint the treasure chest" to my to-do list in this room.
I'm still debating on the artwork here - what do you think? When I hang it on the wall, it just gets lost in the Sea of Pink. When I hang it on the paneled wall, you could actually see it. So, this is where it stands for now.
What do you think? Leave the artwork there? Or better off without?
But wait! Just when you thought it couldn't get any cuter... (I literally thought of this just before I was going to post).
Who can resist a boxwood wreath? Wait, is that a cute, coordinating boxwood topiary on the nightstand? Oh yes it is!
Well, there you have it. I will post a tutorial on this project in the days to come.
Enjoy your day!

Wow, this is fabulous, great improvement moving the bed and then the wall! What a great space to work with, nice windows, high ceilings...fun!! Janell
ReplyDeleteYour daughter has an absolutely fabulous room now! I love the new headboard wall and love her bedding--so cute! I think the boxwood wreath looks so nice and pops against the headboard. Nice work!
ReplyDeletePam
Best project I've seen all week! Good job! I bet she loves her "new" room:)
ReplyDeleteI love what you did to the wall, and the wreath is perfect. I agree, the pink sign did get lost in all the pink of the wall. The wreath just pops out in a nice contrast. Beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteJenny, this is so cute. That wall has become the perfect headboard. The artwork was cute there, but the wreath looks really good! Thanks so much for linking to WUW.
ReplyDeleteWowsa! I love this! Just beautiful. I like the wreath there too. It shows up better. But I love the saying on the artwork! Too cute! Just found your wonderful blog through WUW. I'm your newest follower and would be delighted to have you follow me back!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day!
Tammy
Wow! What a great job on that paneled wall...could you do a short tutorial on how that was done? I love BOTH the picture and the wreath so I'm no help there but I also like the wall "bare"...
ReplyDeleteJudy
I ADORE This! The room really pops. Nice job. I know she has to love it!
ReplyDelete& I'm a sucker for a cute saying. My vote is move the wreath to the wall since it will be ok with the pink & add the sign, which is just precious!
Amazing! This looks so great and the new layout seems to work much better. I've got to say I'm partial to the wreath but I think I like the better contrast against the paneling.
ReplyDeleteLove it!
I love it! Such a big difference. I would really like to see how you did the paneling. I like the wreath better above the bed then the plaque. Maybe the plaque could go on one of the many doors so it stands out on the white.
ReplyDeleteI love the wreath the most! The dark green against the white seems more crisp and clean than the saying. And I love how it ties in with the green pillows and the topiary!
ReplyDeleteThe room is so pretty, love the colors and the rearrangement. I think the wreath and topiary look really great.
ReplyDeleteThis is so lovely. And of course the boxwood wreath sets it off so perfectly. I am really loving how this turned out.
ReplyDeleteJenny this turned out so great and I just LOVE the wreath - it looks GREAT! I would love if you would link this up to a new linky party I am starting with SAS Interiors on Saturday (you can go to either site to link) - greendoordesigns.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI think the grenery looks amazing with it...Its even feminine! maybe put the art work on the bathroom, bedroom or closet door. I laughed about all the things that make it upstairs we have that issue in our bedrooms/playroom
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic! I would love this treatment throughout my house, lol!

This looks wonderful. I've been thinking of making an upholstered headboard for my bedroom but this has got me thinking of doing paneling between my windows. Thanks for the great idea!
ReplyDeleteOMG Jenny I am LOVIN that paneled headboard!! You did such a great job on it.I'm not going to be any help to you on what to hang over the bed because I think they both look great!! Martina
ReplyDeleteI adore this!!! I would love it if you linked this up to my linky party.

It is open until tonight. Thanks!
What a dramatic transformation!!! I love it!
ReplyDeleteYour headboard is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE this!!! It is amazing what something as simple as a headboard & moving furniture around can do! I can't wait to have my own home to do so... until then I will live vicariously through you ;)
ReplyDeletexo, E
That looks really great! You are rightfully proud. So happy for you. - Mandy
ReplyDeleteOooh! How pretty! What is the pink wall color's name & brand?
ReplyDeleteI'm a pink fanatic. :-D
Beautiful job! I love the wreath above the bed... kind of a classic look.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous. I love the whole look...you have a lucky girl!
ReplyDeleteLOVE it! The rearrangement is perfect as the bed fits perfectly between the windows! Great Great Job!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet room! I adore that pink color~it looks like cotton candy!
ReplyDeleteHi Jenny-
ReplyDeleteI think this looks better and has more impact than if you did it in the entire room. It really makes the bed look dreamy - love the wreath.
My best- Diane
I did a similar headboard in my master bedroom. After looking at so many king headboards...I had to create my own.
ReplyDeleteThat looks amazing! Great job!

Beautiful room! Any girl would LOVE that!! You know what you could do with that pink hanging? Buy a larger piece of mdf and paint it either white or the green color and put it behind the hanging, as a mat. You have to hang that somewhere... the words are just too precious. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love this!! Awesome job!!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job! And no worries about photo overload....no such thing in the blog world! BTW...I'm a new follower.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous room!
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic - I like it. Great job!!!
ReplyDeleteSo ADORABLE! Nice job :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for a headboard! It looks beautiful.

ReplyDeleteYou did a fantastic job! What a beautiful room. I vote for the wreath. http://itsybitsypaper.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteLove it! I saw Emily's yesterday and now today your adorabe little girls room! My hubs and I are currently working on our boys' room doing the same thing!! I think the wreath is a nice addition. I bet she's thrilled!
ReplyDeleteabsolutely gorgeous! i've bookmarked you to share on my blog later! i'm so impressed!!! i've seen this around and can't wait to try it out someday! lovely.
ReplyDeleteJust GORGEOUS!!
ReplyDeleteSmiles!!
Jami
FABULOUS JOB!! I envy her room:) Honestly, was this as hard as it looks to accomplish??
ReplyDeleteWow!! That's awesome!! I am loving the wreath and now want to convince my hubby to let me do this to our room! I'm your newest follower!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love the wreath. Cute bedding too! :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the room before, I was so hoping you would move it between the windows. I love the bed there and that headboard is amazing, wow!
ReplyDeleteI like the wreath more. What if you hung the prince artwork on her door. I love hanging a big flower or wreath on my daughter's door.
Her bedding is also amazing. I love it
Love it! It looks geat and sooo pretty! My favorite is the boxwood wreath, the green looks so nice with the white and pink.
ReplyDeleteKim:)
What a lucky little girl! Will you adopt me? :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a huge improvement that makes to this room!
ReplyDeleteI'd be excited, too!
I actually prefer the wall 'as is'. Hanging something there takes away from the 'headboard' impact. But then I'm not much of a wreath person except for holidays. Great job!
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!! The new arrangement of the room is perfect and I LOVE the wall!! SO pretty!!
ReplyDeleteI like the wreath best!
Lou Cinda :)
I love it just beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this! I am WISHING my daughter's room had TWO windows because I would SO be copying you :o)
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous. Really! I am so in awe of the headboard and how it all came together. I really like the bed that way. The wreath is fantastic. You have my wheels turning for my own room. Oh boy.
ReplyDeleteFantastic solution to a headboard! I love the board/batten look between the windows - gorgeous! (And loving the boxwood wreath, too!)
ReplyDeleteI saw this on modern jane. Very cute! Maybe you can even change out the wreath with the seasons, a cute feather wreath for Spring!! Can't wait to see the tutorial...
ReplyDeleteI saw this on Shabby Chic Cottage. Love that it is so substantial and yet simple to make. What's a bedroom without a headboard? The greenery is frosting on a (pink) cake. I'm jealous of your girl.
ReplyDeleteLove this - how creative! The wreath is the way to go..:-)
ReplyDeleteso cute!! I just found this adorable post over at Modern Jane's. I was loving the little daddy sign, but the wreath is the crowning touch! Nice job :) If you'd like, I wanted to invite you to link this up to my Transformations and Treasures party. It starts every Wednesday and closes Friday afternoon!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!! Love the wreath with it too. The pink walls are fabulous too.
ReplyDeleteLove the paneled head board!!!
ReplyDeletenancy
Oh man, that's soooo adorable!
ReplyDeleteKate @ welcomedtempest.blogspot.com
I love how this turned out! Great job!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! Love the wreath!
ReplyDeleteLove the room! My kids are begging me to re do their room. It's not as simple as when they were little. They are 10 and 14 now, and they have their own ideas! I love the headboard, and the colors.
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable!!! Love it, your daughter must be in heaven :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! This is absolutely amazing! The furniture rearranging totally made the room. Your daughter is super lucky!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great. The wreath is a perfect touch!
ReplyDeleteWay to go girl! You really did a superb job! Her room is perfect!
ReplyDeleteIt looks sooooo good!! the wreath against the pink and cream just make it! may i ask what color pink that is on the walls? its just such the perfect, soothing, sweet pink color.
ReplyDeleteWOW this looks amazing!! I hope you'll link it up at I Heart Nap Time.
ReplyDeleteI love the changes!
